close only counts in hand grenades and horseshoes

kevin was wrong.

(I said that during the only debate round that kevin and I ever had against each other, and I won. but that's not really why I won... I had supporting evidence, like this:)

it won't be the domestic spying thing that kills the republicans, and by proxy, president bush.

it will be this.

oh, and btw, this is Representative #1.

Number One, indeed.

Oh Dusty... try reading the news sometime before the mainstream lapdogs slobber their filthy, over-vetted drool all over the current events.

Anyone who has read Fark, seen the Sunday talk shows, or read "The Truth (with Jokes)" by Al Franken knew about the Abramoff ordeal.

And, while it is good that a sleazeball like Abramoff is going down, and is going to bring down Ney with him, expect the House Republicans to crucify those fingered by Abramoff before the feds even serve their arrest warrents.

This will, however, distract the public to Bush's constant back paddling and shreiking that, in fact, he did not break the law, please don't impeach him, by spying on Americans without warrents. But, hopefully, the democrats will stay on message and leave Abramoff to the feds and stick it to Bush. Because, after all, it's the spying that going to get Bushy.

Yes, you did manage (somehow) to win a 2-1 decision in our only debate round ever.

I imagine that makes you feel very good about yourself -- knowing that you won a round against the person who is widely regarded as one of the two greatest high school debate orators in our state's history.

Just like the latest Cheney scandal, or the mess that is the war in Iraq, or the last 100 times I've heard "Wolf" being yelled?

I imagine this was the exact same way the Republicans were cheering when Clinton lied under oath or when the Chinese seemed to be living in the White House.

This is a prime example of whats wrong with the Democratic party, having absolutely no clue how about half of this country thinks and not really caring to learn because of how superior they view themselves to be. Think for half a second about the last 6 years and whats happened; but THIS is going to bring them down?

Yes I realize you probably don't actually have any strong thoughts that this will bring them down and it was more about dramatic effect but it illustrates the point i'm trying to make.

It's just Michael Moore/Rush Limbaugh syndrome in full effect. If you can't recognize when you are listening to propaganda because its on "your" side then how can you trust your judgement on picking the "right" side.

/edit This came off far more scathing then intended so try to absorb the info without the insults, veiled or shoved in your face, because im too tired to edit it which also probably contributed to its high scatheocrity factor.

Ah yes... I do remember those other democratic "scandals" well.

Clinton lied under oath during a witch-hunt grand jury investigation about not having sex with Lewinsky to protect his image and his marriage. George Bush has admitted that he 1) went to war in Iraq even though there were never any WMDs, 2) Is spying on Americans, which is illegal insofar as one cannot spy without a warrant, and no warrant was given in these cases, and 3) has admitted (and given partial funds back) that he accepted contribution money from Jack "I'm diiirrrrrty" Abramoff.

Oh, and yes, Al Gore. He alledgedly took campgaign contributions from a foreign party. Which he denies. VP Cheney, on the other hand, denies that he gave Halliburton any undue contracts or favoritism for the Iraq reconstruction projects which resulted in billions of dollars for Halliburton in profits -- which they then parlayed into even more billions of dollars in profit by screwing our troops in fiendish price gauging and waste.

Oh, but it's all okay. Because Osama Bin Landen flew planes into our buildings 5 years ago. On Bush's watch.

But, it's still okay, because we caught Bin Landen. Wait. No, we caught Saddam. Who, by the president's own admission, never had any WMDs.

I really hope the Republicans maintain control of the House in 06, because it would just be horrible if the Dems initiated impeachment proceedings against Bush for his lying, law breaking, and war mongering without provocation.

My last thought: I wonder how hard Osama Bin Landen laughed when he saw that America was going to war in Iraq and leaving only a skeleton crew in Afghanistan. I wonder how superior he felt in that exact instance he knew that he did, in fact, get away with the most horrible act of terrorism of all time, against the most powerful nation the world has ever known.

Golly, Bush sucks. And any republican that supports Bush is either 1) a Communist chinaman trying to bring down America from the inside or 2) and Al Qaeda operative, trying to bring down America from the inside.

"having no clue about the way half this country thinks," huh?

Here's a surprise: It's not half the country. About 1/3 of people eligible to vote in the USA voted in the last presidential election. Of them, b-a-r-e-l-y more than half voted for Bush, and we can't determine the intent of voters in Ohio that were disillusioned and disenfranchised by 8-hour-long lines at polling places staffed by Republicans.

So we have 1/6 of the country voting one way, 1/6 voting the other, and 2/3 of the country that can't be bothered.

I don't want the fundamentalist Christian, warmongering, anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-poor, pro-corporation, pro-K-street, pro-propaganda minority running my country. I want to live in a place where everyone can see a doctor without having to worry about going broke if they do. I want to live in a country where I don't have to see politicians and their lobbyists doing perp walks every week because they're corrupted by money and power. I want to live in a world where America's vision and values are respected because they represent a modern, honest, healthy, and most of all FREE way of life.

To claim that I am spreading propaganda is outrageous. President Bush is spreading the propaganda, by paying Iraqi newspapers to print favorable articles. By paying television stations to run stories favorable to his education policies to run on US television stations. By planting a male prostitute in the press room at the White House to ask softball questions when Scottie "No, They Lied to ME" McClellan gets sick of taking constant heat from veteran reporters that smell blood in the water. Pointing the finger of blame squarely where it belongs is not propaganda, and if one person reads this blog and realizes the craziness that goes on daily in our country, and decides that they're not going to put up with it any more, then good, I've done a good job.

I know that the whole country wants us to be safe, healthy, and free to live our lives. Our president has made us less safe, endangers the lives of civilians and our military on a daily basis, and is curtailing freedoms recognized by the rest of the international community. I think people need to know that.

I think the congressional elections will be a first step towards uncovering what really happened after 9/11, what really happened before and during the war in Iraq, and what is really happening at the executive level. Mostly, I think corruption will be a big issue in the next election, and it will be much harder for Republicans to distance themselves from it than Democrats.

The prez can break all the laws he wants, as long as the republican congress doesn't imepeach him. However, if that congress isn't there any more...

then the fees come due, shorty. the fees.
